Montecatini

Today was pretty much a free day.  Half of the group went on an optional excursion to Pisa and I understand they had a great morning.  I will have to get some pictures from them!

We are staying in a town called Montecatini in a lovely, grand, old hotel!  We are situated next to a park and within walking distance of the shops and restaurants.

A highlight of this place is the old town of Montecatini, which is located way up on top of the mountain.  There is a funicular that takes people up there.  We went up and strolled through the tiny alleyways in the residential area.  It is so peaceful and quiet up there, it would be magical to live up there.  Then we made our way to the main square, which wasn’t very big, and we checked out the couple of little shops.  We had a leisurely lunch on a terrace that overlooks the countryside below, so beautiful.

Everyone in the group made their way up there at one point in the day.  Some people checked out the shops, some people relaxed by the hotel pool and some even went for a ride on the carousel!!

We gathered for an amazing dinner at the hotel.  We had an elegant meal of salad, spinach crepes, pasta, beef, mashed potatoes, beans and Tiramisu for dessert.  This was all complemented with wine!  The atmosphere was lively as everyone was anxious to share their adventures of the day.

Still no luggage for five of us but my Air Tag is showing that it has moved closer to us and is within 100 km, so here’s hoping! 🤞

Ciao!
